ABAAMD (As Below, As Above My Dreams)

ABAAMD (As Below, As Above My Dreams)

Clinton Kabena

In his work, Clinton Kabena shows different realities that exist side by side in the world, inspired by stories of African migration, in which the will to survive and journeys to an unknown future clash with new worldviews. The journey through life is full of crossroads and expectations that can come your way: an eternal, collective journey where every moment can mean a new turn. With the tight tying of the car, the artwork symbolizes how we as humans always limit and try to ward off expectations and misunderstandings. The car is a memory of old times, driving around the neighbourhood when friends got their first driver's license, and a symbol of the journey to a new life.
