In Lumière Park, on the banks of the Weerwater, a lone excavator produces a small but elusive miracle. A magical stream of water runs uninterruptedly from the digging bucket into the ground, as if the digger has tapped into an ancient, mythical source of water. A technological waterfall, with no origin, no function. But full of suggestion as to the magical meaning of water - a connector in this landscape so rich in history. In a landscape that has already endured so many spectacular metamorphoses, this urban lake, which seems so mundane, is actually a miracle in itself.
This water has its own, elusive character and is as alluring as it is threatening. Almere's water, the Weerwater, will forever remain unpredictable and capricious.

About the artist
Meeus van Dis (1978) lives and works on the Hembrug site in Zaandam. His work is fuelled by fascination with disposition, electromagnetism, optics and audio-visual seduction. This results in technological, site-specific installations, architectural sculptures, infographics and assemblages.
Neal Groot (1993) is a multidisciplinary maker, working inside and outside the theatre. His artistic practice is built around technological experimentation with light and sound technology, and how to apply this in a playful yet immersive experience.
