Lichtvis
Jurrian van den Haak
Lichtvis is a wondrous light sculpture of a fish with a human figure on its back. Due to its transparent skin, fine lines and warm glow, the creature appears almost weightless, as if it were floating through the night. The sculpture is inspired by Marieke en de Lichtvis, the song story of the Almeerse Viane Towo. This new legend takes place in prehistoric Flevoland, during the Swifterbant culture. In a dream, Marieke meets a mysterious mermaid, the beginning of an adventure that changes her life.
This artwork is presented by Kunstlinie. The work was made for the Lichtjesparade by The Red Herring - Vis à Vis in February 2026.
